Women In International Security (WIIS), a global membership organization of over 1,500 professionals in international security today announced that Science Applications International Corporation [NYSE: SAI] has become a high-level sponsor. WIIS brings together experts for dialogue on international security issues and supports the professional advancement of its members. WIIS is part of the Center for Peace and Security Studies (CPASS) at Georgetown University.

SAIC joined the WIIS network as a Platinum Level member. The collaboration will increase visibility in more than 35 countries where WIIS has members and to connect with WIIS affiliates around the world and WIIS chapters in the U.S. The collaboration will provide memberships to 200 SAIC employees, giving them direct access to events, speaking opportunities, professional development, and networking with other professionals in Washington, other cities, and around the world.

“WIIS is a dynamic and growing network of women and men around the world who are working in all aspects of international security. To have SAIC, and its employees, join in our effort to promote women’s participation in this field and to enrich the dialogue on current national security challenges is an invaluable asset,” said Jolynn Shoemaker, executive director of WIIS.

WIIS and SAIC will work together to address the cutting-edge intelligence and security issues that are of concern to the policy and defense communities and to provide mentoring and career development opportunities for SAIC employees.

“In addition to supporting SAIC’s commitment to recruiting, retaining and advancing a diverse talented team of highly motivated professionals, our collaboration with WIIS enables us to stay at the forefront of trends in the fields of international and national security, intelligence and foreign and defense affairs,” said Karen Penn, SAIC’s director of Corporate Diversity.

SAIC will have access to a pool of talented professionals from the WIIS network and graduates from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service community to build recruitment and brand recognition for the company.

SAIC will also participate as a VIP company in the WIIS flagship program, The Summer Symposium for Graduate Students In International Affairs, an annual program that brings 30 top graduate students to Washington DC for one week of discussions with experts, networking opportunities, and professional development seminars.
